Borealis AG together with Borouge (its joint venture with ADNOC, UAE) jointly put into operation a retrofit high voltage electrical testing site last month. It is located at one of the in-company innovation centers in Stenungsund, not far from Gothenburg Sweden. Borealis has spent EUR 4,000 000 to reequip the facility with the most up-to-date testing hardware.
Stenungsund already has a long history of cable insulation manufacturing and studying, with the first testing facilities opened way back in 1986 to support insulated cable production at the local factory. Things have been changing gradually since that time: as new products emerged, the testing site was developing accordingly.
The testing center will now be able to run trials on a wide range of new insulation materials developed for commercial applications. Cables that will carry high and extra high voltage should be examined thoroughly to guaranty their safe performance. The refurbished center will speed up new projects thus contributing to innovative development of the company.
Continuing urbanization process, which is still an issue today, along with the new challenges, emerging from the strive to make power generation more «green», back up and boost the demand for new electrical hardware solutions. And this is where Borealis steps in, offering innovative technologies for safe and efficient energy transmission such as its Borlink™ compounds, manufactured and tested in Stenungsund.
Borealis will be ready to provide more information about the new facility to all the concerned visitors of its booth at the WIRE Düsseldorf event to be held this April (16th-20th).
