Addivant™ has recently reported that its WESTON® 705 stabilizer was approved by Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) regulative authorities to be used in a variety of material supposed to be in the direct contact with edible goods.
As this nonylphenol-free additive had already been accepted for food-packaging in most of the other countries of the world, it has thus become virtually the first antioxidant to get the global approval for about four decades. This is likely good news for global packaging industry members, both material providers and manufacturers, as they will have one headache less concerning all these complications with differing national-specific regulations.
WESTON® 705 phosphite is an efficient and universally applicable phosphite stabilizer. It is designed to be used in a broad range of polymer applications, based on HDPE, LLDPE, SBR, NBR, SBC, SBS, ABS, PVC and other materials. It is generally safer in processing and more sustainable in comparison to conventional analogues.
According to Addivant's management the final step in global approval process will encourage the company to make further investments in new innovative products.
