43 EXTRUSION & RECYCLING ASIA 1/2025 CHINAPLAS 2025 OMNI Recycling Systems: Flexible, e cient and sustainable solutions for the circular economy The demand for OMNI recycling systems has been grow - ing at a steady rate. This is not least due to the fact that they are versatile and particularly suitable for post-consumer and post-industrial recycling. They process a wide range of plastics such as polyester (PET), polystyrene (PS), poly - propylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) into high-quality end products and are used worldwide. Decontamination of post-consumer waste for direct food contact products is a key application for OMNI systems. Typical applications include - PET bottles - HDPE bottle caps - PS packaging - PP yoghurt pots The decontamination e ciency of Gneuss technology is con rmed by US Food and Drug Administration approvals, EFSA compliance and numerous local approvals. In addition, OMNI recycling systems have excellent odour reduction and degassing properties for materials such as PA, SAN and other polymers, which signi cantly improves the quality of the recyclate. OMNI recycling systems also o er compact design, fully automatic control of system components and maximum exibility to handle uctuating feed materials. OMNI systems also make e cient use of the energy gen - erated during extrusion for downstream processes, signi - cantly reducing energy consumption, operating costs and carbon footprint. MRS multi-screw extruder with outstanding decontamination performance Based on conventional single-screw technology, the MRS extruder is equipped with a unique multi-screw section for e cient degassing that meets food contact requirements. A simple, robust vacuum system enables direct processing of R-PET into high quality end products without pre-drying. The patented multi-screw section with counter-rotating sat - ellite screws signi cantly increases the surface exchange of the polymer melt and provides a degassing surface that is much larger than other extrusion systems. As a result, impurities are thoroughly removed and the recycled pellets have excellent optical and mechanical properties, making them suitable for use in food applications. Innovative ltration technologies and easy retro t solutions for plastics recycling At Chinaplas, Gneuss Filtration Technology will present its patented Rotary Filtration Systems. These continuous sys - tems are characterised by a lter disc with circular screen cavities. The special feature: The screen is changed on the side of the lter disc that is not in the melt channel. This al - lows the production process to continue uninterrupted and trouble-free, even at high process pressures and with highly variable post-consumer contamination levels. The RSFgenius lter model also o ers automatic high- pressure segment rinsing, which cleans the contaminated screens precisely and e ciently. The segments of the screen surface are continuously cleaned with a de ned, minimal proportion of ltered melt, reducing back ushing losses to a minimum. Thanks to their compact design, Gneuss ltration systems can usually be easily retro tted to existing extrusion lines. They pay for themselves in a short time through e ciency and cost savings, reducing material and operating costs.
