21 Extrusion International 3/2022  MAAG Group has acquired the French tool manufacturer AMN DPI (AMN) effective 02.05.2022. Maag is thus consistently continuing its path as an integrated supplier for systems in the plastics industry from extruder tip. Founded in 1979 and based in Nor- mandy, AMN, a developer and manu- facturer of polymer pelletizing dies and die plates, brings a wide range of know-how to the MAAG Group for both the processing and the extrusion and recycling industries. The globally positioned company with expertise also in biodegradable, highly flled re - cyclingmaterials concentrates its activi- ties primarily on the European market. Ueli Thürig, President of the MAAG Group, comments: "For us, the acqui- sition is a consistent further step to- wards even greater customer centric- ity. Toolmaking for granulators and systems can now be carried out com- pletely in-house. This increases the availability and delivery reliability of Maag products, and production times are reduced." The Recycling plant – which is the frst of a kind – uses ad - vanced technology to enable the effcient sorting of post- consumer waste, hot washing to remove any contamina- tion, extrusion with extra fltration and deodorisation. This ensures the recycled material can then be used for domestic appliances. The Huhtamaki Foundation worked with the lo- cal community and authority in Maharashtra, NGOs, social enterprises, and educational institutes – including Swachh, Stri Mukti Sanghtana, CIPET and ICT – to develop this sus- tainable plastic waste management system. The plant is fully operational since May 2, 2022. “The Huhtamaki Foundation has been set up to work to- wards the conservation of the environment in India with a focus on driving sustainable packaging solutions and driv- ing forward the circular economy by setting up recycling schemes. It actively advocates for alternate sustainable plas- tic packaging structures, solutions and ease of recyclability”, said Sunil Bhagwat, Trustee of Huhtamaki Foundation. “Setting up the recycling plant is the frst step that the Huhtamaki Foundation has taken in the direction of driving circularity. Over the next few years, we will strive to set up similar facilities in major geographies in India. She replaces Richard Schmidhofer, who filled the posi- tion on an interim basis for around a year. Anne Dierkopf thus completes the managementboardwithCEOThomas Halletz and CTO Stefan Moll. She is responsible for the areas of finance, purchasing and IT. Her tasks will fo- cus, among other things, on secur- ing the supply chain and finalizing the deployment of SAP S/4HANA.
