Clients of Parx Materials, Netherlands, have been taken the lead in integrating the unique Parx Materials technology into synthetic yarns. It is a 100% polypropylene yarn with the specification: 55D/48F.
Yarns or textiles produced with these yarns have been thoroughly tested by independent laboratories and have proven efficacy, successfully integrating the Parx technology to incorporate an intrinsic and non-migrating antimicrobial and antiviral performance. Organism tested are the following:
BACTERIA
- E. coli
- Staphylococcus aureus
- Ahemolytic streptococcus
- Klebsiella pneumaniae
- Pneudomonas aeruginosa
- Salmonella enterica subsp. Enterica
VIRUSES
H1N1 virus
An 99.99% reduction of the virus was measured in 8 hours.
The Parx Materials technology relies on a non-toxic, body’s own, biocompatible element that is integrated in the material to modify or improve the mechanical/physical properties of the material making them resistant to the adhesion and proliferation of bacteria, viruses, molds, fungi, bio film and fouling. The technology does not involve any toxic chemical and is not migrating out. As the technology is not leaching away or wearing off and nothing is consumed, the technology last throughout the entire lifetime of the product.
The manufacturer involved verified the mechanical/physical properties of the yarns, comparing them with their original production without the technology and they have found no difference in characteristics and the yarn upholds the quality level as originally designed by the manufacturer.
Antimicrobial and antiviral tests have been performed by SGS laboratories and the Guang Zhou Institute of Microbiology.
