Starlinger technology for bottle-to-bottle recycling in Malaysia
In line with Malaysia's commitment to sustainability, recycling and increased use of renewable energy in the industry, Hiroyuki Industries (M) Sdn Bhd is investing in a new PET bottle-to-bottle recycling line for producing food-grade rPET and opted for another Starlinger recoSTAR PET iV+ recycling system. The Japanese company with production sites in Malaysia is among the first producers of food-grade recycled PET resin in the ASEAN region.
The contract of sale was signed on November 14th, 2021, by Hiroyuki Managing Director Nakata Hiroyuki and Tee Guan Huat from Starlinger & Co GmbH in Kuala Lumpur in the presence of Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, and Austria's Trade Commissioner in Kuala Lumpur Reinhart Zimmermann. In a statement to the press after the signing ceremony Minister Dr Adham Baba welcomed the cooperation between Starlinger and Hiroyuki and emphasised the importance of a transition towards green products such as rPET resin to reduce plastic waste and carbon dioxide emissions in Malaysia.
The recoSTAR PET line is state-of-the-art recycling technology for the in-house recycling of PET flakes from bottles, preforms, strapping bands and sheets as well as for the recycling of post-consumer bottle flakes after the washing process. The end product is melt-filtrated, uniform granulate that can be used for a wide range of applications (containers, sheets, fibers and nonwovens, strapping).
