Monosol to construct new film manufacturing facility in Poland
Kuraray’s MonoSol Division advanced plans for construction of its new manufacturing facility in Poland. MonoSol is the world’s leading producer of biodegradable, water-soluble films and part of Tokyo-based Kuraray Group, a leading global specialty chemical company.
The new manufacturing plant in Poland will be located in Zimna Wódka, Ujazd Commune, located in the Katowice Special Economic Zone. When completed, it is expected to create approximately 90 jobs. The project timeline calls for site preparation to begin in April this year with commercial production in late 2021.
The addition of the Poland facility expands MonoSol’s manufacturing presence to mainland Europe and is driven by strong customer demand for its water-soluble, biodegradable films used in unit-dose applications for the laundry and dish detergent categories. The company also operates a plant in Hartlebury, England, which will continue to serve European and global markets.
MonoSol additionally announced the beginning of commercial production at its recently completed factory in Lebanon, Indiana, outside Indianapolis.
“MonoSol’s continued growth and expansion is driven by our customers’ long-term commitments to continue investing in our environmentally friendly technologies and the unit dose format,” said P. Scott Bening, President and CEO, MonoSol. “Together with Kuraray’s investment and technology support, MonoSol will maintain its unrivaled capacity and capabilities to meet our customers’ needs globally.”
