Union announces that the acceptance test of a new high-capacity extrusion line for the production of PET multilayer sheet with optical quality and suitable for food contact, useful width of 1400 mm, thickness adjustable from 0.13 to 2 mm, was successfully completed.
The upstream equipment, consisting of a main twin-screw extruder and a single-screw co-extruder, is equipped with a new filtering concept capable of stopping even the smallest impurities present in the materials used. Thanks to the extrusion die at separate double duct and the co-extrusion block it is possible to stratify with different configurations and number of layers.
The downstream is composed by a 1600 mm horizontal calender, silicon device with vertical dryer and trolley winders.
The line is designed to be fed with 100% post-consume PET bottle flakes without compromise the quality of sheets achieved, which result similar in transparency and brightness to the sheets made by virgin material.
The sheet produced satisfy all the requirements for food contact.
