During the last six months, Direct Pack has received not only one, but two, grants from The Recycling Partnership’s PET Recycling Coalition to assist in the construction of second and third PET reclamation facilities. Thus, the reclaiming efforts of Direct Pack are being recognized by The Recycling Partnership and its prominent members.
Direct Pack Recycling (DPR) first received a $400,000 grant for the construction of “El Segundo”, DPI’s second PET reclamation facility located in Mexicali, Mexico. The facility will source material from MRFs across the U.S. and produce an additional 15,000 tons of recycled content for new packaging. DPR specializes in recycling thermoformed PET packaging like clamshells, packaging, and bowls, providing an important new outlet for non-bottle PET recycling. A few months later, in the second round of grants, Direct Pack received a $250,000 grant to support efforts to bolster the efficiency and effectiveness of PET thermoform recycling. The grant will be used for the construction of a new reclamation facility in Rockingham, NC.
The Recycling Partnership is a mission-driven NGO, committed to advancing a circular economy by building a better recycling system.
