Mocom opened new production facility for carbon fiber reinforced plastics
MOCOM celebrated the grand opening of its new production hall for carbon fiber reinforced plastics in Gardelegen. Philip O. Krahn (CEO of the Otto Krahn Group) and Norbert Nieder (District Crafts Master) joined Jens Kaatze (CEO of MOCOM), Horst Raasch (Plant Manager Gardelegen), and Norbert Scheinert (Head of Production in Gardelegen) to symbolically cut the ribbon, officially inaugurating the state-of-the-art facility. The new hall, constructed on a 39,000-square-meter site, will enable MOCOM to produce high-quality carbon fiber reinforced plastics. The use of recycled carbon fibers significantly reduces the CO2 footprint of these lightweight and highly durable materials. The Otto Krahn Group, MOCOM's parent company, invested a total of 10 million euros in the Gardelegen site.

“We prioritized future-proofing this new production hall. For instance, a photovoltaic system on the roof supplies electricity autonomously, and we will utilize our process waste heat for heating," explained Jens Kaatze. “Initially, we are starting with one extruder line and equipment for processing carbon fibers for compounding, which means producing plastics for further processing. The hall is designed to accommodate additional extruder lines," Kaatze added.
“We are thrilled to expand our Gardelegen site. I want to particularly highlight the excellent support from the city of Gardelegen, the economic development team, and the relevant authorities of the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel," said Horst Raasch.
From now on, more than 3,000 tons of high-quality carbon fiber compounds can be produced in Gardelegen.
