Due to what it calls competition from overseas imports, materials maker Ineos has announced that it will permanently close its Addystown, Ohio, ABS resin production site in the first quarter of 2025.
The Addyston site manufactures ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) and SAN (styrene acrylonitrile) polymers for industries that include automotive, household, healthcare, and construction.
Ineos said it will continue to serve the North American ABS market from its other production facilities in North America and within its global footprint.
The decision comes on the heels of Ineos announcing the official closure of its styrene monomer production site in Sarnia, Ont., which has been shut down since April 2024.
