Hermann Ultraschall: AMG Generator in Schubert packaging machines

Hermann Ultraschall: AMG Generator in Schubert packaging machines

csm Ultraschall-Generator ULTRAPACK AMG im Einsatz bei Schubert 5add5cc789
New ultrasonic generators ULTRAPACK AMG with innovative cooling concept in action at Schubert

The new, slim ultrasonic generator ULTRAPACK AMG by Herrmann Ultraschall, with an innovative fieldbus concept, requires less space and fits perfectly into the slender electric control space of the Schubert machines. At 48 stations, filter liners are welded into the capsule bottoms – or more precisely, they are embedded using ultrasonics. 24 generators supply the ultrasonics, each producing power for 2 stacks. The new ULTRAPACK AMG not only has 1,200 watts of power, but also monitors and independently regulates the welding parameters. Integration into the machine controller via fieldbus interfaces makes it possible to exchange process data in real time.

At Interpack 2017 Herrmann Ultraschall will be showcasing the ULTRAPACK AMG, as well as its cross and longitudinal seal modules. Varied food applicationswill be demonstrated, under the slogan "smart & connected". The main focus will be on the coffee industry: filter materialsas well as lid films can be welded onto coffee capsules. Aroma valves and breaking points can also be applied to large packs. See the lastest innovations in Hall 11 D 59.

Using ultrasonics to join nonwovens with PP or PE: When combining typical packaging materials made of PP or PE with what is referred to as nonwoven materials, the desired bond can be quickly and consistently produced using ultrasonics: e.g. when sealing filter liners, perforated films or filter papers into coffee capsules. The PET filter liner has a higher melting point (up to 250 degrees) than the PP material of the capsules, which reacts more quickly to the ultrasonics, as a result it becomes viscous and flows into the PET. The advantages of the ultrasonic process include the short cycle times and the possibilities of process monitoring in the ultrasonic generator.
