Founded back in 1981 in India, Cosmo Films ranks these days among top suppliers of specialty film products for packaging, labeling and lamination. Its expertise covers equally various film technologies such as CPP, BOPP, or BOPET. Cosmo is not only the biggest local exporter of BOPP films but also the leading global manufacturer of thermal laminating films. The supplier has dedicated trade centers in Japan, Korea, and the United States, and boasts partners in over 70 countries of the world.
Cosmo Films is about to put its PSA series films for labeling on display at Labelexpo Europe 2017 trade fair, held on September 25 to 28, 2017 at Brussels Expo in Belgium. The film range will comprise specialty polystyrene systems for self-adhesive labels, top-coated films for direct thermoprinting, as well as general-purpose synthetic printable paper for labeling. Let us review the advantages of these products to be showcased (booth 3C70 in hall 3).
Universal Printable Coated BOPP Label Facestock
Film facestock is a crucial component of "label sandwich" applications: it has to be carefully considered as to provide waterproof properties, heat and chemical resistance. Cosmo Films supplies wide range of dedicated films: white, metallized or transparent, with or without coating. These products boast compatibility with both water- and solvent-based inks, including UV ones. Label facestock films by Cosmo provide outstanding performance when printed on by flexography, offset, screen, gravure, letterpress, thermal transfer or HP Indigo digital. An additional benefit for converters is increased film stiffness for better handling.
Label Over Lamination
The over lamination films protect printed surfaces perfectly. Among standard products in this category, Cosmo Films supplies transparent polystyrene films with matte or gloss finish. Premium film grades include:
• Velvet — for bringing intense velvety touch to printed labels
• Scuff Free Matte — for outstanding resistance against package handling odds
• Black Velvet — this new grade combines deep black color and velvety feel.
Direct Thermal Printable
A recent innovation, these top-coated films with matte paper feel are intended for any track & trace labelling tasks. The thickness range offered is quite large: 60, 75, 87, and 100 μm. The standard film grade is resistant to water, chemicals, hot and cold environment (–20...70 °C). Another grade with increased heat resistance (–20...130 °C) serves, before all, for car body and deep-freeze food packaging labeling. Finally, a cheaper grade without top coating exists as well.
Universal Printable Synthetic Paper
Despite its name, this product is actually white nontransparent PP-based film. Synthetic Paper not only looks like real one but also can be printed on with any popular technology from wet & UV offset or flexographic to almost any digital printing one. Thus, it can replace paper for increased wear, moisture and solvent resistance anywhere including retail or outdoors. Synthetic Paper exists in thicknesses of 75 to 430 μm as sheet or rolls.
