German Packaging Award recognizes pioneering packaging concepts in 10 categories. This year, almost two hundred innovative ideas from twelve countries have been considered by a jury comprising members of trade associations, producers, retail and R&D. Bettina Horenburg, the organizer of the award, thanked every participant for their input, adding that without their work for the betterment of innovation, no additional value could be created for end users and sustainability advances would have been less pronounced.
This is not for the first time that Constantia Flexibles is among the frontrunners of this important yearly international award in the sector of packaging: this year, the film solution named CompresSeal got the prize under the Sustainability header. The prizewinners will be given the physical award at a gala event in Berlin that will take place September 26. Stefan Grote, executive vice-president of the Food Europe division of Constantia Flexibles, congratulated, before all, Achim Grefenstein, the head of R&D department of the company, and his personnel at the company's production facilities in Weiden.
The state-of-the-art product created by the company's engineers within a short time is really a sustainable solution to be used not only in flow packs for products such as nuts, ground coffee or coffee beans, and any other flavorful food, but also in stand-up liquid pouches. CompresSeal film is manufactured through a groundbreaking hot-embossing process, resulting in an increased seal integrity compared with traditional PE and lightweight (up to 30% lower) at unchanged thickness. The new solution supports continuous processing at packaging lines over a wide temperature range.
Constantia Flexibles ranks as the 4th top global supplier of flexible packaging/labeling solutions for food industry, pharmaceutical and other sectors, with over ten thousand people personnel in 24 countries of the world. The company motto is clear and straightforward: "People, Passion, Packaging".
