FED- DEM is a manufacturer of extrusion and compounding lines and a member of the Feddersen Group. The focus this year will be on the company's extensive portfolio of complete systems for a wide range of applications as well as its LFT-PT long- fibre pultrusion lines. At K 2019, the mechanical engineering experts will present their latest equip- ment series for producing LFT-PT com- pounds that meet the highest demands of the industry. The company now offers LFT-PT systems for laboratory purposes (5 strands, with throughput rates starting at about 7 kg/h) and for large-scale pro- duction (up to 60 strands, with through- put rates of well over 1,000 kg/h). Following the concept of ICX ® Technolo- gy 1 FEDDEM’s MTS-series extruders are matched with optimised LFT compo- nents for producing top-grade LFT pel- lets," explains Klaus Hojer, Business De- velopment and Account Manager at FEDDEM. Nowadays, the majority of compounders must cope with frequent product changes. Minimising changeover times is therefore key to success. FEDDEM not only supplies compounding lines that are tailored to specific applications. With its MTS/MTV series of extruders and ICX ® Technology, the company offers the best conditions for minimising costs and ef- forts that are involved in changing pro- duct. "Thanks to our kneading block- free screws and FEDDEM mixing ele- ments (FME), we are in a position to ex- tend the range of applications of a given screw configuration when processing re- lated compounds and, consequently, we reduce the need for frequent screw changes," Hojer elaborates. Where required, pre-assembled exten- sion units allow extending resp. shorten- ing the extruder’s processing section to adapt to the required processing length. At the fair, the engineering specialists from Sinzig will exhibit the FED 26 MTS 32 L/D twin-screw extruder with a pre- assembled 10 L/D extension unit that can extend the extruder to 42 L/D.
