Extrusion International 1/2019 Call forNominations for ‘THERMOFORMEROFTHEYEAR’ The Society of Plas- tics Engineers (SPE) Thermoforming Divi- sion has announced a call for nominations for the annual Ther- moformer of the Year Award. The award rec- ognizes an individual who has made a sig- nificant contribution to the thermoforming industry in a technical, educational or mana- gerial capacity. The nomination deadline is March 31, 2019. Nominations will be evaluated by the SPE Thermoforming Division Board of Directors during the Spring board meeting in May. The 2019 Thermoformer of the Year will be recognized at the awards dinner held during the 27th Annual SPE Thermo- forming Conference ® , which will take place September 9-11 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The awards dinner will take place on September 10 at the hotel and will also include the an- nouncement of the winners of the annual Thermoforming Division parts competition. “The Board is seeking candidates who have led exemplary careers and have contributed to and nurtured the growth of the thermoforming industry,” said Juliet Goff, SPE Thermo- forming Division Board Member and Recognition Commit- tee Chair. “Over the years, the Thermoformer of the Year Award has been presented to just 36 captains of our indus- try.” The 2017 Thermoformer of the Year award was received by Robert Porsche of General Plastics. As a result of the cancella- tion of the 2017 SPE Thermoforming Conference because of a hurricane, SPE did not name a 2018 honoree so that Robert Porsche could receive the award in person during the 2018 Conference.
