Extrusion International 2-2025

35 Extrusion International 2/2025 In many production environments, space is a limit- ing factor. The PURITY SCANNER ADVANCED has been specially developed for a compact and ef cient inte - gration, so that optical and metallic sorting is done by one device. This reduces costs and ensures a smooth material ow. In order to avoid secondary contamination during the inspection, SIKORA relies on an enclosed material trans- port via stainless steel channels that does not introduce any particles into the material ow. The targeted sort - ing is carried out by means of puri ed compressed air, which ensures the purity of the XLPE or PP pellets. For over 10 years, medium, high and extra-high volt- age cable manufacturers worldwide have relied on the PURITY SCANNER ADVANCED – now in its fourth gener- ation. Regardless of whether XLPE or PP is used, the pu- rity of the insulation material remains a critical factor in cable quality. Thanks to state-of-the-art inspection and sorting, the PURITY SCANNER ADVANCED helps to op- timize production processes, reduce costs and promote sustainability in the plastics industry. However, good ltration is unavoidable with increasing rPET proportions. So, BB Engineering has addressed these issues with its decades of experience in extrusion and ltration. The new COBRA lter combines continuous and automated large-area ltration with integrated intermediate lter cleaning – setting a new stand-ard in ef ciency, ease of use and resource saving, and nally meeting the demanding requirements of recycling processes. Large-area ne ltration made for recycling Recyclers are currently dealing with a dilemma when it comes to ltration. Increasing recycling quotas cou - pled with insuf cient availability mean that lower in - put qualities are also being condidered for recycling, resulting in more challenging contaminants. At the same time, higher-quality applications are being tar- geted, which further intensi es the requirement for ne ltration. There are systems for large quantities of contaminants, but they do not lter as nely as a candle lter. There are also candle lters that provide excellent ltration but cannot cope with high levels of contamination. The new COBRA filter can do both. It was specially developed for demanding filtration tasks with high levels of contamination, particularly in PET recycling. Multitasking is the keyword. COBRA unites large-ar- ea fine filtration with simultaneous, fast and effort- less cleaning, and is therefore able to handle higher contamination rates, which common candle filters would fail on. However, this allrounder can also be used for other applications, e.g. in synthetic fiber spinning. Rendering of BB Engineering’s new COBRA lter
