Extrusion International 2-2025
40 Extrusion International 2/2025 of fully intermeshing co-rotating, self-wiping screws, with high vacuum venting for the elimination of the crystallizing and drying processes, the SGTSE Multi- RESN™ outperforms other twin-screw technology in terms of operating performance, energy ef ciency, and sustainable utilization of resources. Capable of processing a variety of virgin, post-consum- er, post-industrial resins and ake, including PET, PLA, PP, PS, PE and other unique blends, without rst hav - ing to crystallize, dry or change screws, the SUPER-G® Twin Screw Extruder with Multi-Resin capabilities offers signi cant advantages to a processor. Capital equip - ment needs, oor space, logistics, associated labor and energy usage are minimized or eliminated with dryer- less technology. The added capability to process a mul- titude of resins on one extrusion system leads to greater versatility and opportunities for the processor to meet consumer demands. The SGTSE MultiRESN™ speaks to processor sustain- ability goals and standards in terms of energy ef ciency and resource management. Energy ef cient designs target sensible production rate ranges well suited in today’s production environments, with increased ef- ciency ratings of over 20%. The newly con gured square barrels design heats up faster with higher heat- er-to-barrel mass density ratios vs that of round barrel counterparts, resulting in heat-up times reduced by as much as 30%. Resins (pellet, ake, and process scrap) can be immediately introduced into the process without drying, further saving energy while utilizing the most available resources. Furthermore, the starve fed system means blends, colors, and quick change overs can be ac- complished on the y and in as little as 20 minutes re - ducing downtime, maintenance and startup times. Like the HVTSE®, PTi standards and technology have been integrated into the SGTSE MultiRESN™, including, but not limited to, PTi’s patented M-ATEX™ technol- ogy which allows free thermal expansion of the equip- ment, the TITAN® Control system, and RealTIME™ IV monitoring. This newest machine series features many improvements over past designs, including: Targeted sizes; Modular components; Heat retention; Energy ef- cient; High torque rates; Unique screw removal; Stain - less steel; Higher outputs; Made in the USA. Furthermore, the SGTSE MultiRESN™ equipment footprint has migrated from a L/D of 52 to L/D of 50, with equivalent or greater output rates of previous HVTSE® models. The SGTSE MultiRESN™ 90mm currently resides in PTi’s TDC as a full production line capable of conducting tailored trials and formulations.
