LAB LINE tube line – for technical or medical tubes
Exhibition highlight Number 1 is a highly integrated, compact COLLIN LAB LINE tube line with numerous features in live operation. "With this line, our customers produce for example medical tubes like catheters, technical tubes or, used as filament line, filaments for 3D print", explained DI Dr. Friedrich Kastner, CEO / Managing Partner COLLIN Lab & Pilot Solutions GmbH.

At the booth – production of short 4-strip tubes for demonstration purposes
At the booth, with the line, the mechanical engineering company produced short 4-strip pipes with a diameter of 5 mm for demonstration purposes. This line is equipped with two extruders, a LAB LINE Extruder E 25 P Professional as well as a TEACH LINE TL 20 H "piggyback". That means, that the smaller extruder is mounted in the piggyback system, which results in a very compact line. By the further developed COLLIN tube die, two colours are alternately applied side by side and thus, 4-strip tubes are produced.
Behind the new COLLIN P water bath, there was a caterpillar take-off including a new cutting device for cutting predefined tube lengths.
High flexibility – different modules and features, depending on the customer requirements
As alternative, there are numerous modules, which can be integrated into the line, for example different winders – bobbin winders or continuous winders with several winding stations, depending on the requirements. Moreover, COLLIN customers can choose from optional features such as diameter or wall thickness measurement or a diameter control.
TEACH LINE flat film line – with new camera system for film inspection
As exhibition highlight 2, also in live operation, the visitors could see a COLLIN TEACH LINE flat film line with integrated FI film inspection. "By a camera as well as software, the high-quality test line continuously determines optical defects via a definition of up to 10 defect classes by means of up to 14 defect criteria", explained Corné Verstraten, CSO / Joint Partner COLLIN Lab & Pilot Solutions GmbH.

"Brand new is the COLLIN-owned film inspection, which mainly convinces by the practical postprocessing resp. the especially programmed software. With this, tool, also after a finished run, our customers can still modify the evaluation criteria and use it for existing data", said Dr. Kastner.
With its compact design, the table-top line combines well-known functions of a flat film line with those of a small finishing calender. The system is perfectly suitable for finishing and laminating films as well as for casting masses with low viscosity with a vertical die. Via pneumatic cylinders, the upper of the three rolls is moveable and finishing films is possible. The gap width can exactly be adjusted, if the upper roll is pivoted upwards, the unit can be used for casting thin films. The table-top systems additionally convince by its modularity. They can easily be combined with other TEACH LINE machines or can also be extended by them.
FOOD FEED LINE / LAB LINE 20 mm compounder in Clamshell design – versatile use in different sectors
With the product line LAB LINE, COLLIN offers the P Professional Compounder series. These machines are used in the plastic industry but also in the medical and pharmaceutical sector. By using this knowledge, the COLLIN team had developed the new series FOOD FEED LINE and showed a 20 mm compounder at the Fakuma booth – a machine, which can be used for applications in the polymer sector but also for the food and animal feed industry.
Compact and modular, driven by either a compact gear motor or a high torque motor, the line can be used in many ways. Different downstream equipment can be mounted, numerous additional equipment as well as features are available.
