n Interplas is to expand outside of a sin-
gle hall for the first time since 2005 fol-
lowing a huge surge in demand for space.
The triennial trade fair will remain co-lo-
cated with TCT Show, the leading event
for 3D printing and additive manufactur-
ing technologies. Interplas 2017 has al-
ready secured stand bookings from some
of the industry’s biggest names, with ma-
ny taking an increased floor space to re-
plicate the high levels of success seen in
the 2014 outing. Preparations are well
underway for a number of new and excit-
ing seminars, features, workshops and
training sessions that will provide added
value to attending the show.

technischen Anwendungen vor allem in
der Lebensmittelverpackung eingesetzt.
Konsumenten und Medien sehen Verpak-
kungen aber zunehmend kritisch. Nun
rückt der optimale Produktschutz in den
Fokus der Packmittelherstellern und Le-
bensmittelindustrie. Produktschutz kön-
nen Folienverpackungen besonders mini-
miert und optimiert leisten. Aber da-
durch werden diese nicht automatisch
nachhaltiger.
In diesem Jahr beleuchten namhafte Re-
ferenten über etablierte und optimierte
Lösungen ebenso wie über Neuentwick-

n Dieser Crashkurs richtet sich an Mitar-
beiter aus der herstellenden und verar-
beitenden Folienindustrie. Theoretisches
Innoform-Seminare lungen im Bereich der perfekten – sprich
angepassten – Barriere.
Der Nutzen von Hochbarriereverpackun-
gen in Relation zur verlängerten Haltbar-
keit wird beleuchtet. Zudem werden Fra-
gen beantwortet wie:
Welche Barriere eignet sich für wel-
che Füllgüter?
Was kann Papier mit Barriere heute
leisten?
Wie funktionieren Barriereschichten
für Monomaterialien zur besseren Rezy-
klierbarkeit?
und praktisches Verständnis für Anwen-
dungen und Produktionsanforderungen
werden gleichermaßen erweitert. Fun-
dierte Grundlagen und Fachwissen für
den betrieblichen Alltag des Kaschierers
werden vermittelt. Darüber hinaus erhal-
ten Anwender von Verbundfolien einen
tiefgehenden Überblick über Fehlerquel-
len und deren Vermeidung, zum Beispiel
durch geeignete Spezifikationen. Der
Schwerpunkt wird auf Folien für flexible
Verpackungen liegen. Es werden dabei
die wesentlichen Einflussgrößen des Ka-
schierens besprochen und diskutiert. Ein
wesentlicher Teil beschäftigt sich mit ty-
pischen Fehlern und deren Vermeidung.
Eigene Praxisprobleme können erörtert
und Muster mitgebracht werden.

will stage an exhibition that occupies all
the halls of the FieraMilano fairgrounds.
The upcoming edition of PLAST will also
feature three satellite fairs dedicated to
three industries of excellence in the sec-
tor: RUBBER, 3D PLAST (3D printing and
related technologies) and PLAST-MAT
(innovative plastics).
The excellent trend in registration for
PLAST 2018 reflects an equally positive
economic situation in the sector, as high-
lighted by the survey conducted in
March by ASSOCOMAPLAST – the Italian
Plastics and Rubber Processing Machine-
ry and Moulds Manufacturers’ Associati-
on. Indeed, 44% of respondents indica-
ted an increase in orders with respect to
both February 2017 and March 2016.
This trend may be attributed to the reco-
very in domestic demand and to
ongoing improvement in sales ab-
road. In 2016, exports increased by
1.7% to approach the 3 billion
euro mark, establishing a new all-
time record.

signment, more than 800 companies
have confirmed their participation in
PLAST 2018 – International Exhibition for
the Plastics and Rubber Industries sche-
duled in Milan from 29 May to 1 June
2018. The organizers have thus recorded
a 6% increase in the assigned area with
respect to the same deadline for PLAST
2015. There has also been a significant
increase in the number of new exhibitors
setting up stands at PLAST for the first
time or else returning after being absent
for some time: +10%.
These heartening statistics seem to af-
firm the success of the industry strategy
known as The Innovation Alliance, initia-
ted by the organizer of PLAST 2018,

see further gains in production and ex-
ports in the neighbourhood of two per-
